calmlittlecentre A dozen people report seeing a ring of lights glide across the sky.
Call Commander Straker, UFO contact approximately 22:00 hours August 1st, approximate latitude: 51.38, longitude: -0.28...
A Surrey Comet reader says, 'I looked to my right where they were originating from and they seemed to be coming up from the ground one after another like bubbles being blown. They were coming from a fair distance away and they "flew" across the sky over Stoneleigh / Ewell and we watched each one reach a spot in the sky and then disappear.'
Or they may have just been some search lights from a nearby outdoor event.

But I thought It was proven that the lights were Chinese lanterns and the photograph was a lampshade more 27 weeks ago. Do you have more inside information?

Are you drinking now by any chance?
I am no CSI fan but if the photographer were to look behind them and up slightly they may see that UFO hovering in there room, something surprisingly like a lampshade!!
Lovely clean windows !!!
The story photo was only for illustration purposes, I couldn't find any photos of the actual sighting. I thought it'd be amusing to use this one from Flickr, but I'm impressed you spotted the giant light fitting.
It's easier to see in the bigger photo:

I have only just moved into Surbiton, I was sitting in my neighbour's garden about 6-weeks ago and she told me that she had seen UFO's regularly, I put it down to too much wine and an excess of Joss sticks! However, early on Tuesday morning, around 3am, I was awakened by a strange sound, coming from outside my house, it sounded like a generator hovering overhead...it went on for about 15-mins and I immediately thought about what I had been told. Needless to say I did not look out the window!
I suspect that your flying generator also might have had a bright light shining from it and probably flew round in circles. Is is usually known as India NineNine and is a helicopter owned and flown by the Metropolitan Police !
It might just have been the Air Ambulance but that normally lands and then takes off again sometime later.
Typically in these situations, the simplest explanation is the most likely -- it was probably just a generator hovering overhead.
