It's a sad reflection of modern society.
The other morning I noticed a car, which had managed to squeeze in behind mine the previous night, being hurriedly manouvered out of its space as it made its bid for freedom. In doing so it scraped the back of my car, leaving damage to both cars, before driving off.
I was too far away to remonstrate with the driver, in time.
Not only do I find this extremely rude, it could potentially leave me out of pocket!
Would you approach the driver at the next opportunity, leave a note or follow some other course of action?

All three.
Presumably you got the licence plate?
1. Contact the Police with the details and get a reference number
2. Leave a note on the offender's car explaining this, the reference number, and whether they'd like to call you to arrange insurance details swappage
3. Approach the offender with a big hammer up your jumper in case things turn nasty
