Claremont Medical Centre GP is to face the GMC for misconduct after hitting a child.
Dr. Martin Wolfson is also being sued for compensation by the family of the child who he hit in an incident at a Walton clinic. The three-year-old girl Lahna Fahmi had kicked him in the groin whereupon Wolfson says he acted on reflex to smack her. However, he claims he inadvertently hit her lower back which according the Fahmi family caused a fever and traumatised the toddler.
If successful the Fahmi family could be awarded up to £15,000. If the GMC consider Doctor Wolfson's incident as misconduct it may lead to him being stuck off.
