Armed robber steals £2,000 from bookmakers

The Eden Bookmakers in central Surbiton was robbed at gun point on Wednesday afternoon.

The crime took place at the bookies shop in Saint James' Street which was empty of customers due computer problems. Wearing a white puffer-jacket, sunglasses and a black beanie cap the robber demanded that the solitary cashier hand over the money from the till. He then locked the cashier in the toilets where he remained trapped for 20 minutes until released by a member of the public. The robber was described as being white, 35, 6ft 2ins, of medium build with facial stubble and a London accent.

Police are calling for witnesses on 020 8247 7932.
