I did not vote for Ed even though he is a very good local MP and did not abuse the expenses.

He can have no influence on the big questions facing government.

I was very sorry to see that the local elections retained the L/Dems,but at least the financial controllers of The Rose will be relieved.

I did vote for Ed Davey as previously stated. We shall have to wait-and-see as regards your opinion regarding his influence. He does have influence within the Lib Dem but everything is confused at the moment.

All my three Council votes went to the Conservatives.

Regret my last post was anonymous due to the site auto logging me out,was it something I said?

Leslie,I was not trying to belittle Eds influence, only that the L/Dems are also rans and will not have any real power in any of the current alliances being spoken about.

In fact they are doomed which ever way they turn as most core supporters loathe the Tories and Labour equally and as such Clegg cannot, with conviction, form any meaningful alliance.

It does not auger well and getting side tracked by any of the possible PR scenarios is just a no brainer when the sovereign debt is quickly approaching a level even higher than Greece.

Bloodaxe (good name) I didn't think you were trying to belittle Ed Davey, so no problem there. At the time of writing this we are watching two potential reluctant suitors negotiating whether they should go to bed and what positions are acceptable. My problem with this is in a few months time we the people will be visiting the clinic with a social problem!

Thank you Leslie.

I shall look forward to the October election with enormous relish.

It would be interesting to see why people voted for their chosen party. I find it very revealing to see the reasons behind their votes, especially when some people vote for the man, and not the policies behind the party. Thankfully there is the bbc election sites and others alike that give a full breakdown of the manifestos, so people are made aware of what each party actually is for and against. I think it would surprise a lot of people.

Things are far more centre-left/right than in previous elections, and some of the policies of the parties are just slightly niave in terms of recovering from our debt ridden situation we finds ourselves in.

I voted in the Surbiton.com election early on. Just the once. Is the vote turning into a race between the Lib Dem & Tory activists/supporters who are multiple voting? Tch tch....

Just like the x factor,I blame the media stunt of the so called "debate" for "engaging" with the ipod/blackberry/facebook hordes.
