I have followed Shimi for nearly twenty years and have found her to be the most caring and professional hairdresser.
Over the years she has guided me through various styles and colours.
I have for the last few years had a Brazilian blow dry and as it takes a long time it so pleasant to sit in a comfortable salon and feel "looked after". I have incredibly sensitive skin and Shimi has always taken care to buy and use the best products. Five Stars every time Kay Rouse.
I have just had the worst experience of my life in this salon, and have suffered FIRST DEGREE CHEMICAL BURNS at the hands of SHIMI, my hair is literally falling out in clumps all over my head, and all at the roots which could lead to permanent hair loss. I visited the salon for a 'trim' and a toner (which should NOT damage the hair at ALL) - I explained I didnt want any bleach on my hair as it had been previously highlighted. She coated my hair all over at all over my scalp, left on for fifteen minutes.
During the cut I noticed she was cutting a massive amount of hair off when I just asked for a trim - I said to her 'dont cut anymore of it' - which she ignored.
She then dried my hair off and I noticed it was a lot thinner and the colour was very odd.
When I got home I realised what a mess she'd made of it. And over the course of a few days my hair has literally fallen out.
I emailed her and asked her what on earth she had put through my hair as it should not be falling out clumps as it was. I asked for her qualifications as a colourist which she has refused to send me. I am pursuing a legal claim against her for gross negligence - I was due to start a new job and am now unable to go in until I see the true extent of the damage she has caused. DO NOT VISIT THIS SALON. SHE IS A FRAUD.
I have only rated one star on here as you have to rate to post, but she definitely is NO STAR when it comes to hairdressing.

I am so happy that I have found Shimi's! It is a great place, the staff are all incredibly friendly and Shimi is fabulous. I never really know what to do with my hair and she is always so helpful and she is a perfectionist - always making sure that she spends as much time as needed to make my hair look fabulous I wish I could go there more often! It is a wonderful place, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
I have been going to Shimi for years now albeit not as regularly as I should! I have been to other salons but this is the first salon I've stuck with. You are always greeted with a smile! Staff are so helpful and don't have attitude. I always feel that Shimi and Dominique who I've seen have been awesome! I have been more than happy with every single treatment that I've had! My hair's always looked fabulous!!!!! I couldn't recommend this salon enough!
I don't know what the first two comments are talking about but I've been going to Shimi for about a year now and I've never considered going anywhere else since. I have my hair cut by Shimi and she always takes however long is needed to cut my hair right. She has a brilliant understanding of the way my hair works and what suits me and, as I am only young, I haven't really experimented much with my hair and don't know much about what would be the best for me and so I literally trust Shimi to do whatever she wants with my hair and have never regretted it. The staff are all lovely, welcoming and friendly and seem to really care about you and what they are doing with your hair. Absoultely wonderful. 5 stars.
What a fantastic find - I have had a great cut (by Shimi), a half head of highlights (by Kinga), also my daughter had a fantastic graduated bob cut (by Choi). Surbiton is flooded with mediocre hair salons at the moment, but this one is just outstanding.

I have just come home from having a full head of highlights and cut and blowdry at Shimi. I can honestly say that at 29 years old and having visited alot of salons in my time (including Michaeljohn in Mayfair!), I found this to be 1st class. I was warmly greeted on arrival and made to feel completely welcome. The colourist(I can't remember her name, early 20's, blonde) took time to question what exactly it was that I wanted and made helpful suggestions. I didn't feel like she was rushing the job which I have felt in so many salons previously, and the result was exactly what I was looking for. My hair was then cut by Bruno who again took the time to make sure he knew exactly what I wanted and I left the salon with a perfect blonde 60's mod haircut. Even the junior was very good and didn't have the robotisism that alot of the juniors in salons have when washing your hair. An overall perfect experience and I would strongly recommend anyone to try out this salon. having just moved to Surbiton I will definately be making this my Salon of choice. They are currently offering 30% off colour for 1st time clients too, which is a bonus!!
my friend went here and they died her hair grey! she is 26!
Please don't go here!!! I went in for blow-dry and came out looking like Pat Sharp! Not good if you don't want to look like Pat Sharp! When I complained, they did nothing to rectify the situation. God knows what they would have done if I would have let them at me with scissors!
