Chris will be spinning his chilled & eclectic 'Balearic Beats' at Surbiton's Rubicon Bar on Friday 11th September from 8pm onwards.

Balearic beat is the eclectic style of DJing pioneered in Ibiza in the late 1980’s by Alfredo, the resident DJ at the Amnesia club. Familiar songs, most of which hover around the 90 - 110bpm mark, were put into a fresh context meaning they shed whatever unfashionable associations they may have had.
A new strain of slower paced dance music (referred to as ‘New Balearic’, ‘New Disco’, ‘Cosmic’) emanating from places such as Norway & Belgium is partly responsible for the rebirth of the Balearic sound.
A certain style of pop record and underground stuff put together became, and remains, the defining characteristic.
