French Table bakery, Pizza Express, Green and Pleasant

So it's not new news but Green and Pleasant has opened on Brighton Road.

French Table bakery looks great. I walked past it today and the photos looks good.

It will be interesting to see how Pizza Express fare if they get planning permission.

Well the French Table Bakery opened today at midday. I went along at 12.15 and there was a queue out of the door presumably for people buying cakes and rolls. The seats inside were full. I didn't have time or the inclination to wait so bought my bread and cakes at Waitrose. I will pop back in a few days, it will probably be emptier then. I wonder if people will wander down to Maple Road though for their bread and cups of coffee when it is so easy to get this whilst shopping in Victoria Road ? I will be interested to see if it becomes a success. Otherwise I expect they can extend the French Table Restaurant. A bit like Waitrose, the new layout, I very rarely see anyone buying from the cooked meat /coffee/soup counter opposite the newspapers, or the fresh fruit on the centre console at the main entrance.

I will be interested to see if this takes off as well - I hope it does as it looks great.

it was really, really good. Very dangerous to have such an establishment down the road from my house. They should team up with the Lamb and sell pies in there, I love the Lamb but it would be even better if you could get a nice hot pie and mash to go with your pint of ale.
