Keeping green and historical are high on the agenda for the opening of Surbiton’s new health centre.
At a meeting on Wednesday, residents were updated on the final plans, just over a month before it is due to open. Built on the old Surbiton Hospital site in Ewell Road, the centre will provide services including ultrasound, breast screening, x-rays, minor procedures, and psychological therapies.
Patients will be able to use a touch-screen registration programme at the site, where they must input the number plate of their car. Those using the parking who are not visiting the practice will be fined.
Residents were also invited to contribute to a new commemorative project, aiming to preserve the history of the Oak Hill area helped by a £44,500 heritage lottery fund grant. International artist Rana Begum will work with residents who have links to the area, to make a permanent display of their memories. The centre will open on March 4, and a new bus stop outside the site is due to be finished soon afterwards.
