Food-lovers will soon be served up a plate of delights at the first ever Surbiton Food Festival.
The inaugural event will bring together farmers, traders and chefs to offer residents a sample of the borough’s best produce. Celebrating fresh, home-grown food, the festival will kick off on Saturday with the ‘Edible Town’ project, encouraging residents to grow their own vegetables in pallets and cover the town in plantlife. The fortnight continues with the Freshwater Sardine Festival.
The imagined legend of freshwater sardine fishing on the Thames will be brought to life with live music and a parade. Coffee connoisseurs can have taste of the good life with a free brew on Ewell Road during the week. There will also be cocktail classes at Rubicon on Maple Road. Residents are invited to buy a 'food passport', filled with special offers from all the stalls and traders taking part, to make the most of the event.

- Saturday May 18 – Surbiton’s Farmer’s Market – Maple Road, 9am-1pm; Surbiton Sports Day – Victoria Recreational Ground, 1pm-4pm
- Sunday May 19 – The Big Brunch – Throughout Surbiton
