Each of the 7 CCGs in south west London and Surrey, as in other areas, are carefully looking at how they can deliver the best possible local community services to their local population. These are often referred to as Out of Hospital services.
The Surbiton Health Centre opened to the public in March 2013, after years of careful planning by Kingston GPs who wanted to provide a range of health services closer to local patients.
It’s a great example of commissioners coming together and creating a community-based hub, where local people are able to access a wide range of services under one roof. In addition to services offered by your local GP or pharmacist, there’s a wide range of services that would traditionally be offered at a hospital site, such as outpatient clinics and diagnostics.
