A new home for elderly ex-servicemen and women has promised not to disturb its new neighbours despite having applied for a private bar and live music.
The Royal Star and Garter home in Langley Avenue, Surbiton, has applied for a license to serve alcohol until 11pm and play music until 8pm, extending to past midnight on special occasions. But the application specifies that no music will be played outdoors after 6.30pm and that the bar service will not be open to the public. In an email to the Southborough residents association, Royal Star and Garter chief executive Mike Barter attempted to address the residents’ fears that the home will be too noisy.
Residents will move in later this summer after moving out of the Royal Star and Garter home in Richmond.
