Fer.. Hook Rise and Surbiton Road branches marked for closure.
As part of a nationwide cull of 2,500 post office branches, six branches in Kingston were today earmarked for closure.

What exactly have the Govt asked Leighton and his boys to do?
If it is to simply make the organisation profitable, then it may make sense. However surely huge savings could be made in the headcount area where vast numbers of workers toil with outdated equipment to provide an appalling delivery service. This would save billions in pay and pension contributions.
Why not keep more offices, install mail storage systems so that I for one can go and collect my mail instead of the current system which delivers on only 5 days a week and normally after lunch and ,at times,up to 1800.
Who devised the crazy measuring and weighing of,seemingly, every other envelope or packet. It causes huge queues especially around Xmas when the older generation still like to send cards overseas.
The more savvy can just use email, plus piccies etc and do it for nothing.
Seems to me we will end up with no delivery service or post offices, just a huge workforce doing nothing at taxpayers expense.
