Surbiton High School fought off tough competition from 147 schools to win the prestigious Outstanding Senior Leadership Team of the Year award at this year’s Independent School Awards (ISA), held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on Wednesday (14th November).
320 guests, including leading educational and school representatives, joined Sir Ranulph Fiennes to celebrate excellence in the strategic and financial management of independent schools in the UK. One of 12 prizes, the Outstanding Senior Leadership Team of the Year award recognises the inspirational and innovative leadership of a school. According to the judges, Surbiton High School demonstrated creative ideas and techniques used to develop its pupils, whilst preparing them with life skills post school.
Ann Haydon, Principal of Surbiton High School says: “Pupils at Surbiton High School are recognised as individuals whose unique talents are nurtured from their very first day. We go further by identifying opportunities that encourage them to think for themselves and question the world around them so they are confident and stimulated. Winning this award acknowledges the imaginative and energetic leadership within Surbiton High School, a school I feel very proud to lead.”
Jon Coles, Group Chief Executive of United Learning comments: “This award recognises the school’s unrelenting focus on creating an outstanding learning experience for every single student. The school has a stimulating and rigorous curriculum and offers countless opportunities for students to excel outside the classroom. Surbiton High’s Senior Leadership Team has created a thriving and successful school to which more and more parents want to send their children.'
