Car damaged, culprit seen, What would you do?

It's a sad reflection of modern society.

The other morning I noticed a car, which had managed to squeeze in behind mine the previous night, being hurriedly manouvered out of its space as it made its bid for freedom. In doing so it scraped the back of my car, leaving damage to both cars, before driving off.

I was too far away to remonstrate with the driver, in time.

Not only do I find this extremely rude, it could potentially leave me out of pocket!

Would you approach the driver at the next opportunity, leave a note or follow some other course of action?

Hi,

Is there anyone in Surbiton who would like to meet up on the odd evening to play Go? I'm very rusty, but have my own set :-)

Wake up - I think I hear a burglar!

Thieves drive off with swag in sleeping couple's prized Merc.

The burglars entered the house through the back door and ransacked the ground floor, stealing mobile phones, camcorder and jewellery before spotting the car keys and heading off into the night in the owner's silver Mercedes C180.

The incident happened between 12:00am and 8:00pm on Saturday while the couple slept upstairs in their home in Endway, Berrylands. A similar break-in happened on the same night further along the street.

Police are asking for any information regarding this on 020 8247 4945. The stolen car's registration is KM54 PBX.

'Your Surbiton' a new community magazine handbook

Hi, my name is Gavin and I am launching a new local magazine called 'Your Surbiton'. It's designed as a handy A5 handbook/directory and is primarily a VERY cost effective way for small businesses to advertise their products and services to the local community.(Only £23 for a quarter page display ad!)
As well as local ads with an index of advertisers, it will also list useful telephone numbers and I'm hoping a 'Your Community' spread. This will be a FREE page where local charities, clubs, groups etc can promote any social activities, fund raising events etc., so if you have anything you want to let Surbiton know about that's happening in December, please contact me ASAP.

Heavies put the pressure on retired couple

Tax collectors send the boys round to wrong Ewell Road.

Two debt collectors made a heavy handed morning call to a retired couples' home. The JBW Enforcement bailiffs demanded unpaid council tax payments, insisting they see a occupant unknown to Mr and Mrs De Domingo.

Arriving at their doorstep at 7 o' clock in the morning, the bailifs refused to believe Santiago De Domingo who answered his doorbell in his pyjamas, keeping him at his door for nearly an hour. During the insident one of the bailiffs broke a window pane on Mr De Domingo's door as he attempted to close it on them.

Eventually the police were called to the house, where it transpired that the bailiffs should have been at the Ewell Road in Long Ditton.

Long Ditton villagers in fear of Surbiton drivers

Elmbridge council comes under pressure as restrictions force commuters on to Surbiton's neighbours.

Last month's new parking restrictions has Long Ditton residents up in arms as they witness a big increase in commuters parking in their area.

Lovelace Gardens and St. Mary's Road are particularly badly affected due to their relative closeness to Surbiton Station. According to Long Ditton Resident's Association chairman George Vallings, who is concerned that the roads are becoming dangerous to traffic due to over-crowding, "Two months ago there were 10 or 20 cars parked along these roads, I recently counted 133."
