With stalls dotted across St Andrew’s Square, punters have the freedom to sample almost any food they can think of, with a strong musical line up of local bands and artists providing the soundtrack. Meanwhile a wide range of businesses, from Pizza Express to Naturally Chinese, will be running demonstrations and workshops for adults and children, while everyone has a means of getting involved through the huge range of culinary competitions listed within.

A 16-year-old cyclist has suffered potentially "life-changing" injuries after they were involved in a collision with a car in Surbiton on Friday.

The crash happened in Brighton Road shortly before midday, at the junction of Balaclava Road and Maple Road - near the Black Lion pub.

Finding a spot in Surbiton to watch the football might get a bit harder, as one of the last remaining sports bars is set to turn into a trendy gastropub covered in “leathers and soft velvets”.

Bosses of the Victoria say they will cancel their Sky and BT Sport subscriptions, sell the TVs and reopen as “a place Surbiton can be proud of”.

Hi All

My amateur football team, Surbiton Darkside FC, are staging a summer event in the Black Lion Surbiton, on Sunday 30th August. The event will include an auction of various prizes and gifts, a BBQ and some live music.

We hope the event will raise money to help the club for the forthcoming season, as we are a self funded side, and so rely on our fund raising nights and player donations to run the club.

Everyone is welcome at the event which will kick off at approx 5pm.

Just wondering if anyone has been to the Black Lion for food yet! i know it as a lively local little pub (used to be a bit grim in an endeering way before the smoking ban's refurbishment!) and it was infamously the only pub in surbiton that DIDN'T do food for YEARS - but they're advertising food and sunday lunches and i had sunday lunch last sunday and it was BRILLIANT - enormous plate of good, home-cooked food, nothing looked like it came out of a packet, and it was delicious.
