Secrets, ambitions, menace, a fun run and gobbledy[filtered word] are just some of the themes which drive this year's oneACTS festival at the cornerHOUSE. The feast of new playwriting comes to the arts centre in Douglas Road, Surbiton, in April.
This year, the event features nine new pieces of writing which have never been staged before. They are between 15 to 30 minutes long. Four will be performed on one night and five on another, on alternate evenings throughout the April 29 to May 4 run.
A special event which raises awareness about autism is to be held at the cornerHOUSE in April. The comedy fundraiser on Friday, April 19 at the arts centre in Douglas Road, Surbiton, will feature a one-man show by John Williams.
My Son's Not Rainman is directed by Anna Crilly. It is about a 41-year-old comedian who is a single dad. His son is 10 years old and autistic. He isn't a genius. This is their true story. Come and see this funny and heart-warming show before it goes on to the Edinburgh festival in the summer.
Come along to the cornerHOUSE on Saturday, April 13 for a gala evening of photographs on the subject of Richmond.

The group supports people with disabilities to access the local landscape.
Has anyone seen the sign at Surbiton station that advises which trains to and from the station at peak times have 'availability'. It is colour-coded, green for 'some seats available', yellow for 'standing room only', and red for 'limited or no standing room' or words to that effect.
Between 7am and 9am there is ONLY ONE train from Surbiton that is highlighted green and that is a very slow service. In the evening rush period, there are no trains at all with seats available.
Phew! It’s been an incredible 16 days! If you’re not yet full to bursting, head to the eateries and watering holes of Surbiton to relax and share your favourite stories from the first Surbiton Food Festival.
