Hey there!
My fiance and I will be moving to Surbiton in two weeks time where we start our new jobs as teachers in the autumn. We're pretty excited about the move (we're coming all the way down from Northampton!) and in the meantime we would really like to become familiar with the place and the people etc. I am quite up for a little summer job just to keep the pennies rolling in but don't really know where to start! Any tips/advice would be much welcomed!
Chat soon,
Tess :)

Hi Tess,
Good choice, Surbiton is a great little suburb. My wife and I have lived here 3ish years and love the place. It has diverse enough restaurants and bars to keep you entertained when you can't be bothered to go further afield but is close enough to Kingston that you can walk there. Surbiton.com provides a little section where people can rate their favourite places to eat and drink. Of course this is subjective but generally Gordon Bennett and Da Lucio on Maple Road are great; The Victoria on Victoria Road is good for beer, sport and drinking in the sun; The Red Rose on Brighton Road is strange but does great Indian food and if all you want is a cup of coffee you've got about 30 choices but I'd recommend Three Peas in a Pod on Brighton Road.
Maybe the local papers can help you find a summer job - kingstonguardian.co.uk and surreycomet.co.uk (they're pretty much the same paper) both have a jobs section that might help.
Good luck with the move!
