Kingston / Berryland's Smell from Sewage Works..?

I know this question has been asked over the years endlessly but as a prospective homebuyer in Auckland Road, just off Villiers Rd - KT1 I'm concerned about the possible smell from the Berrylands sewage works. In the past it seems like it was a real problem for residents in Berrylands but I wanted to know if it still is, and if so whether it affects residents to the West of the works?

The vendors said they it was only noticeable a couple of times a year but has anyone else got any experience of it on this side of the works?

Missing Cat

Hello,

Has anybody seen a bronze/black Abyssinian Tabby? He has a golden tummy, white chin and yellow eyes? He's also wearing a blue collar with a blue bell. He is our sons' much loved pet and has been missing for 2 nights. Our boys are devestated. Please could you look out for him and call Darren on 07958 007734 if you should see him. He went missing from Hamilton Avenue on Sunday 01st August. Thank you.

C'est bon — not so good news

I see that C'est Bon on Victoria Road has closed. Very sad. The owner's a lovely man who tried his hardest to make it work. The staff were all lovely too, and the weekly Chess Club a fabulous innovation; a real social hub. My young son always looked forward to it.

Does anyone know what happened? Ali, if you're reading this, I'm so sorry things didn't work out.

I know this topic has been posted before but it was over a year ago, I thought maybe someone could come up with some new suggestions. I am looking for somewhere I can get a good cut and colour. Help please !

Shops lacking in Surbiton

Having lived in the area for sometime, I got wondering about what types of shops are really missing in Surbiton, it's certainly not charity nor estate agents! Seem to have hair and beauty covered too. Not sure what I woud use? Is it really just amenities people want?

The Priory Flats on St Marks Hill

Does anybody know what is happening with the block of flats (called the Priory) at the top of Surbiton Hill? It seems that ALL the flats are empty and have been completely vacated and they have fenced off the entire block.

Are they gutting the whole place? Where has everybody gone? It seems to be a mystery.....

Suburb Suggestions

Hi all,

My wife and I are looking to move to Surbiton and dont know the area at all apart from what we can see driving around. I was wondering if people would be kind enough to make some suggestions on suitable areas to look in for our requirements:

- 3 bedroom house with reasonable sized rooms and a garden. Probably looking around £325-350k
- Close to a train station as I commute to Waterloo everday
- We are early thirties and go out quite a bit so a nice area with nice shops and resteraunts would be great (or easy bus ride to Kingston?)
- Close to good schools

Victoria Avenue - is it ok?

Hello there everyone,

I've been perusing these forums as I've put a deposit down on a rental flat mid way down Victoria Avenue and I'm now getting a bit paranoid that there are going to be a lot of problems due to its proximity to the YMCA and housing association properties. Please could I get some honest views on living in this street as I've had a lot of problems with neighbours in my current flat in Teddington and I'm scared that I'm just moving somewhere worse!!

Any advice/reassurance well apreciated! Thank you.

New bicycle shop in Thames Ditton Marina

Just been into the new bicycle shop that's opened at the Thames Ditton Marina on Portsmouth Road, and it's great! Very snazzy looking, loads of road and mountain bikes and equipment and clothing. The guys in there are really friendly and I had a good laugh with them. Apparently the owner used to work for Specialized UK, which I suppose is why he sounded like he knew what he was talking about!
I usually go to Kingston for my bike stuff but this may well become my new (and closer!) port of call. They do bike rentals as well, which should go down well if the sun comes out again!
