Best beaten up in Victoria pub

Soccer hero George Best has been the apparent victim of an assult during his girlfriend's birthday celebration.

On Sunday night, while drinking with his Surbiton girlfriend Ros Hollidge, three men burst into the Victoria Road public house and began hitting an punching Best in the head. He claims the attack was arranged by someone, but so far no arrests have been made. Best is a well known regular of The Victoria pub.

Best made the papers last June, when was beaten up by Hollidge in Surbiton.

Phone mast victory for Chiltern Drive

After months of resident protests, Hutchinson 3G have decided not to go ahead their plans to erect a mobile phone mast in Berrylands.

However, Raeburn Avenue residents were not so lucky, as it appears the proposed mast now has the go-ahead and will soon be erected.

Footbridge over the River Thames to Hampton Court Park.

A couple of weeks ago, I was cycling back along the river from Hampton Court to Kingston, and it struck me that Hampton Court park is a pleasant and underused resource, geographically close to Surbiton but a pain to get to.

I think it would be a good idea to build a footbridge at Raven's Ait to allow access to the other side of the river.

What do you think?

County Court orders travellers to leave

Spokesman says the National Health Trust site must be vacated by Monday July 11.

Water Pressure in KT6

I installed a Triton Opal Electric Shower over a year ago and the water pressure was then OK.

Water board have recently reduced the pressure in the Surbiton area in an effort to save water.

The Low Pressure light on the shower unit is now almost constantly on rendering the shower useless

Alas, I'm now forced to fill the bath up instead (doh!)

Parking in Surbiton

I am in full agreement with residents parking.....but it seems our council has gone mad!!!

Every free parking space in the Brighton Road area has turned into Residents Parking or Pay and Display.

How much did all this cost? How long will it take to recoup the investment? Is this why I pay so much Council Tax?

If it is the case that a profit is made on all these new machines maybe this could be passed back to the Council tax Payer in the form of a free Permit!

If its the case that they are making a loss then why has it been done?

Girlfriend cautioned by police for 'vasing' George Best

Best taken to Kingston Hospital after vicious vase attack at his girlfriend's Surbiton home.

Ros Hollidge, current partner of seventies football star George Best, was held overnight at Kingston Police Station this weekend.

Police were called to the scene by neighbours who reported screaming and shouting.

Mobile operating theatres coming to Surbiton?

A planning proposals has been submitted to build London's first 'Healthport' in The Crescent.

The Healthport concept is a 'a low-cost, fast-build day surgery centre in the community. It is like a highly modernised cottage hospital', which would integrate with mobile theatres reducing waiting times and facility costs.

A TV documentary on the secrets of suburbia is calling for extraordinary Surbiton residents.

A spokesman of the production company said, 'We are looking to find the real people of the suburbs to tell us how they have rebelled against the conformity of suburbia.'
