Surbiton sports bar to be re-branded as gastropub with trendy outdoor burger shack and themed rooms

Finding a spot in Surbiton to watch the football might get a bit harder, as one of the last remaining sports bars is set to turn into a trendy gastropub covered in “leathers and soft velvets”.

Bosses of the Victoria say they will cancel their Sky and BT Sport subscriptions, sell the TVs and reopen as “a place Surbiton can be proud of”.

Hello,

I will be moving to Subiton sometime in August this year and have a couple of (valid) questions about the area etc.

Generally, how are the trains in the morning into Waterloo? Since I work in the city this is obviously important on their regularity etc including late at night.

Just how safe is the area around the station, walking around late at night?

I get the impression that the "good" areas are on the upper side of Victoria Road as opposed to down near Brighton Rd, just from reading the messages on here.

Hey there!
My fiance and I will be moving to Surbiton in two weeks time where we start our new jobs as teachers in the autumn. We're pretty excited about the move (we're coming all the way down from Northampton!) and in the meantime we would really like to become familiar with the place and the people etc. I am quite up for a little summer job just to keep the pennies rolling in but don't really know where to start! Any tips/advice would be much welcomed!
