Idle chit chat about Surbiton

Night-time Surbiton rougher recently?

Apparently, there was another brawl in Surbiton town centre last night:

This follows the huge altercation outside Macdonalds a few weeks ago, but I notice it has got much worse most times I go up to Victoria Road in the evenings recently.

that popup about charging for content...

That's a joke, right?

Have you lost a bicycle recently?

If you lost a bicycle on 4 April in the Long Ditton area, please describe it to me. I have just found one outside my house. Trying to get in touch with Long Ditton Police is a complete waste of time so I'm trying this.

A Small room to hire required

Hello

I am going to teach Japanese language on one-to-one basis in Surbiton and looking for a small room to hire.

I only need either twice a week in the evening for 1hr-1hr30 each, or Saturday morning for 2-3 hours.

My budget is unfortunately very tight and looking somewhere around £5-£7/hour.

I would appreciate if anybody can let me know anywhere suitable for this.

Many thanks

Dear all,
I would like to ask for you help to advertise a fundraising concert that will take place at Surbiton Assembly Rooms on Saturday 2nd April, 7.30pm.

The concert will present a very entertaining programme with arias, songs and instrumental pieces from Operas and Musicals. You will find more details below and on the flyer attached.

'Air Raid' style siren sounding at 9am

So, I've heard this a few times, in the Seething Wells/filter beds area I can hear what sounds just like a claxon/old air-raid siren. This happens at around 9am and certainly happened this morning (Tuesday 8th March). Any ideas what this might be? Is it something to do with lock-gates, flood defences, pumping stations or something different? Perhaps it's nothing to do with the river at all. Just one of those peculiar local 'mysteries'...

Do drop a line if you know.

Virtual collapse of the mail delivery system

Hi

Has anybody else noticed the sharp deterioration of the mail deliveries in Surbiton in the last three weeks.

My mail used to come about 10.00, which is already pretty bad considering that 20 years ago it was before 9.oo

Then I realized that it came about 11.00

I opened the door and it was not the normal postman, but an older lady. She has a pushtrolley instead of the bikes they used to have. I asked her what had happened and she said there hand been changes and there were less people.

Lovelace Gardens Roadworks and Estate Agents ... what an eyesore

The sub contractors seem to have done a good job of tarmacing most of Lovelace Gardens, however certain parts haven't been finished, it looks a complete mess on the pavement close to Leander Court and Palmerston Court. Also the contractors have left their debris on the bend towards Lovelace Road. Why don't these people just finish the job off and tidy up all their mess? And why are there so many Estate Agent boards outside one particular house on the bend towards Lovelace Road ? If a flat has been Let, why do we need a Board to tell us, for a month afterwards ?
