Berrylands recycling trial a success

After the first six weeks of the recycling trial, Kingston council have announced that the collections have been successful, with green box recycling almost doubling, more than 3.5 kg of additional organic and cardboard waste collected per household, and a reduction in waste sent to landfill from 7.73 kg to 4.47 kg per household per week.

Berrylands recycling trial: 1st fortnight

While figures need analysis, up to 75% of households in the trial area are taking part in the weekly recycling and fortnightly rubbish collections - 50% of eligible residents take part in the green box scheme.

Disrupted trains this weekend

Passengers for local journeys in the Surbiton area should where possible use the bus service via Tolworth, which will offer faster journeys to and from London Waterloo than the buses via Wimbledon. Late evening services (after 2300) in this area may be replaced by buses for most of their journeys and passengers should check journey details before travelling.

Berrylands station will have no service and passengers should use the local K2 bus service (which will accept valid rail tickets) to connect with trains at Tolworth or Surbiton.
