Idle chit chat about Surbiton

The increase in crime everywhere.

I was born in Kingston and grew up in Surbiton when England was England, and to the vast percentage of the population it was their natural ancestoral country of birth. Crime was low and the law was to be feared and was enforced to the fullest extent. Children were disciplined at home and in schools using the old methods and were taught respect. People were able to write, spell, and speak proper English. It was a time when the people had never had it so good.

So how can we get back to that state of blissfull harmony and what political party will enable us to do so as quickly as possible?

Travellers arrive in Surbiton.

Over the weekend a traveller encampment was moved off a Council site and ended up on NHS land in Upper Brighton Road in Surbiton.

They have already stuck up notices that under such and such act they were now the legal occupiers of the land and would take legal action against those who entered.!!!

The land is owned by South West London and St Georges NHS Trust who have been made aware of the problem.

The authorities need to remove this lot by any means necessary.

Local residents should make their views known and pressure the land owners to take legal action.

Why NOT to vote Lib Dem…

Keeping yobs off the streets is a BAD idea, according to Lib Dem MP Annette Brooke, because curfew orders "infringe on human rights".

Yobs wouldn't dream of reoffending, claimed Lib Dem Home Affairs spokesman Mark Oaten, if they were "looking forward to car mechanic sessions and go-karting".

Lib Dems want to go soft on one of the biggest causes of crime - DRUGS. Home Affairs spokesman Mark Oaten said: "I agree with legalising some hard drugs."

Lib Dem MP Jenny Tonge called for hard drugs to be legalised: "It may be better to sell substances like cocaine from licensed premises."

"Soft on crime, soft on drugs, soft in the head":

Phone Masts !!

Kingston council has given the green light to a mobile phone operator to erect a mobile phone mast in front of Raeburn Garage, on Raeburn Avenue. This is right in the heart of Berrylands, and not 15 metres away from shops and houses in the neighbourhood!!!

There is also a new proposal for a mast in Chiltern Drive!!

Does anyone remember any of the regulars at The Southampton: Bill Owen, Bill & Cherrie Watts, Noel Pope, Sir John Boyd-Carpenter MP and what happened to the original Roland Emett cartoons along the entire west wall?

Faulty Towers/Berrylands

Hi I am a new member and note one of the earlier topics. "Ian Carmichael lived in Berrylands and was in Faulty Towers". I think the writer was confusing him with Allan Cuthbertson who certainly did live in Berrylands and was often seen walking to the station on his way to filming, he was Colonel Hall in Faulty Towers and indeed most often played army officer roles in many TV and Film parts.
