Met police publish Subiton crime figures

According to statistics released this month the Surbiton Hill area saw 200% increase in 'Other Notable Offences', which apparently are "a range of offences about which the Home Office have to be notified that do not fit into the other categories. These include offences of Dangerous Driving, Blackmail and Kidnapping."

Similarly 'Sexual Offences' in Alexandria were down by 57% compared to the previous year. This relates to 0.3 offences per thousand population compared to 0.8 in 2005.

Train strike still on for Friday and Monday

SWT plan to lay on special service during ASLEF / RMT action for September 8th and 11th.

The dispute centres over disagreement over the use of taxis by Waterloo based drivers and the alleged unsafe use of managers to drive trains during previous industrial action. Talks remain in deadlock.

A special train service manned by SWT managers will run from Hampton Court to London Waterloo via Surbiton. No trains will be stopping at Berrlyands station.

The Old Post Office

Does anyone know what exactly is going to happen to the old Post Office building opposite Sainsburys? I know it's been closed for a number of years and there's lots of building work going on behind it, but I haven't heard anything about the actual Post Office building. I know plenty of people would disagree, but I reckon it would make an excellent (and intimate) live music/performance venue catering for all tastes.
