Any ideas on what we can do with the filthly homeless drunk who resides in the doorway of NatWest and Santander on Victoria Road? He now has similar acquaintances who join him in the doorway sonthey can get drunk together. Nice.
Not sure if upstairs or downstairs, close to the Pink Nail Bar that was a jewellers. Called The Hair Studio. Has anyone tried it?
I have been involved in 5 incidents of aggressive begging and attempted pickpocketing/robbery in surbiton in the last 4 days.....what has hapened to our town!?
i have lived in Surbiton for 7 years and have always enjoyed the safe and peaceful surroundings, but lately i have noticed a change in the environment with lots more people occupying the town centre asking for money or behaving in an intimidating way.
Hi,
I'm looking for a good, reliable and informative Chartered Surveyor in the area. Can anyone recommend one please?
Thanks
I'm interested in setting up a local music group for adults playing popular music from the fifties through to the present day. It would basically be a relaxed get together where people who know a chord or two can all meet up and play/singalong in a local venue/meeting place. Guitars, ukuleles, basses etc would all be welcome but I can try and adapt the group for all kinds of instrumments - it would be nice to include people who played an instrument at school but haven't picked it up for 20 years and fancy giving it another go!
Does anyone remember the Southampton bar under Winthrop House (now redeveloped) next to Surbiton Station. As I remember, on the walls were murals by Rowland Emett, the cartoonist who designed the whimsical railway for the Festival of Britain in 1951 in Battersea Park. Are there any photos of these around please. I assume that the originals were destroyed. Look forward to comments, Roger Duke.
Hello, does anybody remember two schools from the late 1950s Early 1960s ?
The first I went to was Hursley Preparatory School, run by a Mrs Kenney, I think this is now Hursley Court in Lovelace Gardens.
After that I went to St. Bernard's, I am not sure where this was but possibly along Hook Road as we lived off there and I used to walk home with my Mum or Grandad.
Any info on either school would be lovely as I remember so little and we moved away when I was eight.

I felt that this year's festival was not the same as in past years, the procession was hardly worth watching. A couple of brass bands and the Morris dancers, oh yes and a couple of old cars. Mostly lots of children and when the mums with pushchairs started coming through we thought it was the end of the procession, apparently it was members of something called Gymboree. Basically just the usual stalls, about two thirds as many as last year, lots of silver jewellery etc. and bric a brac. The best thing was the waitrrss on stilts, she is always the best thing about the Festival.
