A community arts and crafts group held in the café at the YMCA in Surbiton. Learn drawing and painting techniques as well as how to craft items in a fun, friendly and encouraging environment.

The death of a homeless man who collapsed on fire in a New Malden street “could not have been foreseen” by authorities, an investigation has found.

The comments on this site back up my own opinion of Surbiton - a great place to live with one major problem - the YMCA.

I seems to me that virtually all of the 'low and mid level' crime in the town centre originates with the inmates of this centre. Whenever I see anyone who looks slightly dodgy in Surbiton, you can guarantee that the next time I see them they will be coming in or out of the YMCA (or the back of a police van).

A new 'Safer Neighbourhood' initiative hopes to curb the increase in crime and anti-social behaviour, said by some to be centred around the hostel.

Based at the Victoria Road YMCA, the team of six police officers are said to put "a visible police presence in the centre of the community to deal with local concerns." The team could be in operation as early as February.
