I used to live at Beaconsfield Road Surbiton & behind us ran the Surbiton stream on its way to join the hogsmill river at Berrylands I was intrigued to find where it souce was & followed it back under the Hook Road & A3 to Chessington. I got as far as Clayton Road which it runs under. Some old maps show a little stream by Lovelace school in Mansfield road. Could this be it on its jouney from Clayton Road?

I found it a very enjoyable evening, the magicians were all quite different,even in appearance, although plenty of card tricks. Not too happy about walking out of the auditorium halfway through the performance, after being settled in our seats, to see the close up acts in the foyer, even though some of them were really amazing. How DID he do that ? The stage acts I found reminded me of children's party entertainers, some good and a lot rather boring, but the finale from the guy with the balloons was very good.

Ok well the tree is down and ready for the recycling bin. All the decorations have gone and the room looks very bare! But where can I recycle my Christmas cards? Are there any shops in Surbiton, otherwise can I take them to a local supermarket ?

Kingston Council recently carried out extensive works to Victoria Recreation Ground, locking the Effingham Road gate for around 18 months and causing considerable inconvenience. A fence was erected around half of the park, and turfing carried out across the middle where people used to walk, presumably so local residents couldn't use the park to its full extent, for no apparent reason. Within a few weeks the fence was being kicked down and residents were again walking across the park on their way to Surbiton.

Just saw this store next to Boots on the ground floor of Bentall Centre. Everyone was staring at it. It looks like a nightclub ! Very unusual, I really liked it. People were queueing to get in, just like a club. Have you seen it ?

Just got back from a walk along the river at Kingston and saw a frozen fox in the river, quite upsetting. Someone was actually taking a photo of it. Did anyone else see it ?

You know, the one between Ravens Ait and Kingston Bridge.... Am I right in thinking it has burnt down or collapsed?

I never cease to be amazed at the number of taxis waiting at Surbiton station in the evening, and now I know why. I've just looked up the prices and it seems that after 10pm for a 1 mile journey the cost is £5.20- £8.60, 2 miles £8.00- £12.40 and 4 miles £15-£23. Amazing!

Seems to me that taxi driving is a way to make an easy, unskilled, living - must find out how to book myself a knowledge test! Remember how to get from Surbiton to Tolworth? Um, yes I think I probably could.

So it's not new news but Green and Pleasant has opened on Brighton Road.

French Table bakery looks great. I walked past it today and the photos looks good.

It will be interesting to see how Pizza Express fare if they get planning permission.
