I'm Robyn and hopefully my boyfriend and I will be loving to Ditton road before the year is out.
We are both in our mid 20's. I know from flat hunting that Ditton road is a nice street but I was wondering if people who know more/live on it could tell me more about it. Anything would be appreciated.
I'm looking forward to meeting new people around my age when I move :-)

my son has gotten into long ditton infant school and maple infant school, for the nursery class. Does anyone know which is better? I think they have the same ofsted marks, but i don't know anything else. Are there any primary school/secondary schools linked to either of these 2 and are they considered good? Also this is another strange request but which one has more multi-cultural children? My son is mixed race and Muslim so it would be nice to know if either of these schools appreciate other cultural and religious events? It's just a bonus though, thanks for any help!

The council are in the middle of replacing the old steel bike railings, which had a certain 'character', with a bland modern design (possibly made of aluminium)
All the old ones needed was a fresh lick of paint IMO, but I guess that steel is worth more than aluminium after all... ahem!

To my reckoning, it does seem a bit of a 'contradiction' to do replace something 'traditional' with something modern in design in a supposed 'Conservation area'.
So, is it only a conservation area when it suits Kingston council's needs, aims & objectives?

I have just returned from another fight with South West Trains. The London to Surbiton commute took 2 hours rather than the advertised 20 minutes.

Tonight's excuse? A broken rail outside Waterloo. I realise that SWT are (conveniently) not directly responsible for this and they can blame Network Rail, but the response as usual is shocking.

Can anyone recommend a reliable and friendly babysitter for the occassional evening out? I have recently moved to Surbiton and am looking for someone responsible to look after my two kids aged 4 and 6 when hubby and I want to go out.
Any recommendations much appreciated.

I recently viewed a few leasehold flats in Surbiton where although the property has a garage but currently not offered by the vendor along with the property. I asked the estate agent and he said that property is on the market without the garage. So the buyer will have to get a resident parking permit and park on the street.

Is it quite common in Surbiton for the freeholders to rent out the garage to day commuters from the station? Could anyone share from their experience if there are any disadvantages if I buy such a property?

As part of the upcoming 100 year anniversary of the beginning of WW1, we are doing some research on former Shrewsbury House School students who fought in the war and wondered whether anybody had any knowledge of a Hugh O'Donoghue MacAn who may have lived in Cranes Park, Surbiton.
