Idle chit chat about Surbiton

Surbiton Thai

Last week I had a truely fabulous meal out in the Surbiton Thai.
It's incorporated inside the Saucy Kettle, but its sort of sectioned off half the bar area.
The service was excellent, the nosh was freshly cooked and the ingrediants superb. I am not an expert on Thai food but what came out of the kitchen that eve was outstanding. The portions are generous and prices very fair. They'll also bring over drinks from the bar with no mark-up too.

Highly recommended!!

Is Surbiton good place for fashion footwear boutique ?

Hi,
My name is Rafal and I am planning to open fashion footwear boutique in Surbiton. I am looking for feedback - is Surbiton good for this kind of business? I have seen a lot of cafe shops, nice restaurants but not many fashion retailers sadly.
Please advice !
Kind Regards,

Upper Brighton Road- Traffic Noise

Hello,

My husband and I are looking to move to Surbiton from SW, London. We have seen a flat on Upper Brighton road which we both really like. However, I am unsure of the traffic noise inside the flat as it seemed a very busy road when we were there.

I am a light sleeper and dont prefer traffic noise inside the flat and the flat has double glazing and good insulation etc.

Please could someone advise of how bad does traffic get on that road and is it really noisy at all times?

Your response will be much appreciated.

thanks.

Fishmonger

In case anyone hasn't noticed, there is a new fishmonger shop opened at the corner of Ewell Road and Hollyfield Road.
He has only been open a couple of weeks, but I highly recommend popping in.

A great selection of fresh fish and a welcome addition to Surbiton.

Surbiton Book Club

I would really like to join a book club in Surbiton, does anyone know of one running or would like to start one?
I enjoy reading and I'm looking to meet new people and have a chat over a drink.

Disgraceful SW Trains sign at Surbiton station

Has anyone seen the sign at Surbiton station that advises which trains to and from the station at peak times have 'availability'. It is colour-coded, green for 'some seats available', yellow for 'standing room only', and red for 'limited or no standing room' or words to that effect.

Between 7am and 9am there is ONLY ONE train from Surbiton that is highlighted green and that is a very slow service. In the evening rush period, there are no trains at all with seats available.

Cat attack

Our family cat was attacked and killed on Friday early evening by what I suspect was a fox. (Not a pretty sight). I know we have many foxes in the area but I wondering whether other cat owners have experienced similar attacks in the past, around Tolworth Park / Douglas Road area?

Raeburn Avenue

Hello,

We are considering moving to the area and especially to Raeburn Avenue (the Alexandra Drive end below Pine Gardens) as we have seen a house we like. Just a few questions that hopefully you can help answer especially if you live on that road:

- How busy is Raeburn Avenue especially with the K2 bus route? I've seen the last bus drops off at half past midnight so just wondering how loud / disruptive that would be especially if near a bus stop?
- Where does this end of Raeburn Avenue fall on the Smellometer from the sewage works? Does the smell travel down that far?
