The Mad Hatter - Another real Subiton Pub goes downhill?

The Mad Hatter - Another real Subiton Pub goes downhill?
I can't believe it - I just cycled past the Mad Hatter pub (Ewell Rd) to find it is no longer the Mad Hatter, but is now "The Victoria"!. I guess this is all part of the conspiracy to rid Surbiton of real pubs and take them down the gastro-route or closeure, as seems to be the case of (new) "The Victoria".
Not long ago I spent a glorious beery saturday nite in this guaralelously drinking den of iniquity. An Irish put-together jam session was ensuing with a wild, amazing kid wizard fiddle player in lead.

The "New Kam Tong" Chinese restaurant closing down?

The "New Kam Tong" Chinese restaurant is closing down in Kingston. Undeniably the best dim sum in Kingston and decent portions of the rest.
So, the bad news is the best Chinese restaurant in Kingston is closing down. The good news is - the notice on their windows say they are moving to Surbiton!
Anyone know where? I tought it might be the vacated Mobin/Dolphin shopfront, but I learned today that the off-license "Excellar" (next to the staion) is moving in there in 4 approx weeks.
Maybe New Kam Tong is moving into the spot Excellar will vacate? Now that would be neat!

Any offers anyone?

Cycle hire for royal borough of kingston

I think it would be great if the cycle hire would extend south west. I think it would be highly popular if it included the places surrounding Kingston, and would be great for tourism. It should include; Kingston, surbiton, ham, Hampton court, new Malden, Coombe, Raynes park, Wimbledon, Richmond, Richmond park, chessington, tolworth and Worcester park! Your thoughts? :-) it would also unclogg the crowded 71, 281 bus routes for people getting to surbiton station and Kingston, people could cycle!

Surrey or Greater London?

As we all know our borough is actually in greater London, but what advantages have we gained? We are still not recognised as London. When you visit London tourists websites such as visit London, nearby places such as Richmond, twickenham and Wimbledon are included, but not Kingston or surbiton. Kingston is still one of two (I think) London borough which disent have a London underground station within our boundaries. We're probably better off being apart if Surrey again. Also our addresses still say Surrey on them? That should get changed so we have more inclusion!

Lost cat

We've lost our beautiful brown cat in the Balaclava Road area. He's one year old, very slender - similar to a siamese or burmese. He's really friendly and only been going outside since we moved to Surbiton two months ago, and is not very streetwise. He disappeared late at night on Friday 30 March. If you live on or around Balaclava Road, please check your sheds and/or garages - he meows a lot so will most likely talk back if he's there. Please let me know if you think you see him.

I'm not panicking, I'm legitimately running dry.

What's Surbiton like?

Hello all,

my partner and I are about to move to Surbiton, but we're having some last minute wobbles! It's a big move for us and something of a leap in the dark. How would you characterise Surbiton? What are it's pluses and minuses?

Missing shop front of Cyclopedia and FeelWell Cafe (Ewell Rd)

Missing shop front of Cyclopedia and FeelWell Cafe (Ewell Rd)
I notice that Cyclopedia and the next door cafe are both boarded up.
Apparently there has been an acident that has totalled both shop fronts.
The cafe is closed for a few days and Cyclopedia have opened their rear workshop door as temp entrance.

Does anyobe know what sort of "accident" caused this? It's massive !

Thanks

The Saucy Kettle Pub - I cycled past this pub the other day (early morning) - did my eyes deceive me? Has this morphed into a Thai cafe/Takeaway?
