Idle chit chat about Surbiton

Was last old warning sign in London removed by Kingston council?

Some time in November I passed an old roundabout red triangle sign (the type with the triangle on top used before 1963) at a dual carriageway in a bunch of signs on the central reservation. Being distracted I didn't note the location but going back on my tracks appeared to be opposite Tolworth Station on the Kingston Road. I went back a few weeks later and nothing was there, and doing a project to record every pre1963 sign I can find as they are fast disappearing, have learnt most London locations and visited the majority already.

Fund Raising

Hi,

Ive lived in surbiton for several years now and find the people and place fantastic!

My girlfriend is planning a trip to Uganda to work in a school for 6 weeks+. the initial costs are very resonable (flights etc) but i know she would like to be able to bring some equipment with her.
Does any know of any local organisations worth contacting regarding fund raising events?

Good Hairdressers?!

Hi all

Can anyone recommend a good hairdresser in Surbiton?
I need a good cut and someone who can do me a nice style - but don't want to pay extortionate prices

Any ideas?

Restaurants closing in Surbiton

I have noticed that a number of eating places in Surbiton are either closing or closed for refurbishment. Can anyone shed any light?

Italian Taste - closed for reburbishment - not sure why I have always loved it as it was - they just need ot change the menu a bt more often!

Olivio - looks like it is closed completely. Heard a rumour it is going to be a Tapas bar?

Surbiton Cafe, Brighton Road - my favourite Sunday hangover stop is no longer open. It looks like they might be refurbing, but I thought it was fine as it was. :-(

Berrylands - the stench! Truth or exageration

My family and I are just considering buying a family home in Berrylands near the station. A couple of friends have asked if we are aware of the smell from the sewage works? Could anyone out there let me know whether its as bad as some people make out or if its very rare. We love being in the garden and sitting out in the summer so would we be best to look elsewhere for a house? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Pest Control

Like a lot of Surbiton residence I suffer from those wretched foxes attempting to break into our rabbit hutch, rummaging through the rubbish bins etc. Any solutions on how I can kill these vermin? Is there a strong brand of poison?
