Housing ladder in Surbiton

How easy is it to get on the housing ladder in Surbiton?

Say you arrived, got a job on £21K a year and got a bedsit.

Could you have much hope of getting a flat?

Can you keep pets in bedsits? Do they have a garden?

Problems with pigeons

Surbiton is been attacked by flocks of pigeons!!!
If you walk under the railway bride near the YMCA beware ... you are likely to be hit by pigeon poo.
I have asked the council to sort this out but they are not interested
This must be a health hazard!! There is also a rather strange man walking up the high street at 5.30am feeding the vermin...

Ewell Road and Alpha Road- Good or Bad areas? Help please

Hello Surbiton! I need your wisdom and advice!

I'm thinking of buying a new flat in Surbiton. This week I've seen 2- a new build block of flats in Apha Road and also a converted flat in Ewell Road, just opposite the Fishponds Park. Both flats were really nice, so now I just need to think about the area. Today, I had a little wander around to get a feel for the area.

I wan't too sure about Alpha Road to be honest. The new build flat is lovely, but some of the nearby houses looked a little run down and scuffy to me. So that was a it disappointing.

Fund Raising Night 24th August 2008 - Surbiton, Surrey

Hi All

My amateur football team, Darkside FC, are staging a summer event in Surbiton, on the 24th August. The event will include a “Silent Auction”, the attendee’s will submit bids for the items on offer, and the highest bidder wins. We hope this will raise enough money to be able to secure our pitches for the forthcoming season, as we are a self funded side, and so rely on our fund raising nights and player donations to run the club.

How to wipe Surbiton clean of the Chav menace....

I was out with my friend heading into Kingston . A very large man jogged past us.
A few moments later a chavmobile boomed past and a spotty, malnourished face emerged and shouted something along the lines of: "whatchoo runnin' for you fu'ing wanga"

The man stuck his finger up at them and instantly became a role model for me.
Predictably the vehicle screeched to a halt and a youth in an Ali G tracksuit emerged and started doing a strange arm-swinging dance in the man's direction. At the same time he enquired if the gent was seeking a physical beating and did he know of a good doctor.

A few questions

Hello,

I will be moving to Subiton sometime in August this year and have a couple of (valid) questions about the area etc.

Generally, how are the trains in the morning into Waterloo? Since I work in the city this is obviously important on their regularity etc including late at night.

Just how safe is the area around the station, walking around late at night?

I get the impression that the "good" areas are on the upper side of Victoria Road as opposed to down near Brighton Rd, just from reading the messages on here.
