Has anyone else noticed the amusing sight of the urban gardening craze of blasting piles of leaves from one spot to another with high powered turbo blowers?

The object seems to be to remove leaves from ones own garden into next doors or the road.

Surely it should be reversed and powerful suckers used to remove the leaves altogether.

Another side effect is to require the noble street sweepers to remove the leaves from the gutters and pile up mountains of beige bags to await collection,apparantly their job description does not require them to sweep pavements only roads.

Just wanted to share a great experience with a nanny agency (and believe me, I have been to them all). Surrey Childcare, based in Victoria Road, Surbiton were helpful and on the ball. It made a nice change to be kept informed and not just ignored like most other agencies around here.
Highly recommend.

I can’t help but notice that most of the comments on this site display a certain amount of cynicism and discontent. And that’s fine. The internet exists for people to let off steam and have a good old rant.

But since these comments are going out on the World Wide Web I thought it may be nice to show folk in Sydney or Seattle the positive side to life in our town.

So here’s a challenge. See if you can come up with 5 things you actually LIKE about living in Surbiton.

Let me start you off with my own list (in no particular order):

Walking down Tolworth Broadway earlier this morning I noticed that the vacant shop next door to Abbey Bank has a subway poster outside it. I therefore believe that subway is coming to Tolworth. Can anyone confirm this?
What do people think about this. Subway in my opinion is far better than Mc Donalds and Burger King but does Tolworth need another fast food/takeaway place? Just wondering what peoples opinions are on this....
I wonder what the closing time will be?

SOME YEARS I BEEN SURPRISED WHY LORRYS COACHES CARS COME UP SURBITON HILL PARK.TRY AND TO DO A RIGHT OVER BRIDGE.NOT NOWING ITS RESTRICTED .AND HAVE TO TURN ROUND NOCKING DOWN THE TRAFFIC ISLANDS.AND THERE ALL SIGNS UP THE ROAD NARROW BRIDGE.A LORRY DRIVER SHOW ME WHEN I HELP HIM TURN ROUND.THE SAP NAB IN HIS LORRY DOSE NOT NO THIS.AND A FRIEND WHO HAS ONE IN HIS CAR SHOW ME.THE OTHER WAY IS THE SAME.COMMING UP CRAINS PARK THE SAT NAB SAID YOU CAN GO OVER THE BRIDGE.THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.NOT KNOWING HOW DEAL WITH THE SAP NAB.I HAVE TOLD THE COUNCIL ABOUT IT.SO THY

Is it just me or have the all pavements in greater Surbiton been taken over by foul mouthed cyclists?

Im not talking young children but adults who expect you to jump out of their way and release a torrent of abuse if you dont and if you actually say something to them it seems to trigger a spectacular frothing at the mouth and even more foul language.

This also applies at night when it used to be normal for bikes to carry lights even when on the roads,no wonder more pedestrians are getting injured as the slipstream from some would knock an old lady or gentleman off balance.
