Needed urgently, does someone have an unused parking residents permit I can purchase - I live near St Andrews Surbiton and need to park a second car, there are two in our home. I am a teacher and need this to be able to get to my students etc. It would be a great help please.
Thank you.

Zizzi opens 28 April 2008

I was walking this evening along Victoria Road and on the front door, it stated that there was a private party going on with a message saying it was opening Monday April 28. It will be interesting to see how it fares compared to the other Italian restaurants around the area.

Happy St Georges Day to my fellow English men and women. Hope you have a great time and celebrate just how great it is to live in England.

moving to Surbiton

I've been reading with interest the posts on the good and bad things about Surbiton as my husband and I are currently looking at properties in the area.
We can't afford the river roads, and have been looking at houses around the Alpha Road estate. It would be great to get some views on that area - is it a friendly place to live? safe at night? can you walk to and from the station safely in the dark?
We're moving to have more space to start a family, so any views on where else in Surbiton might be affordable and young family friendly would be very welcome.
Many thanks,

How come there are so many 'average' pubs?

As a newcomer to surbiton.com, I'm sure I'm reopening a perennial topic, but what amazes me, is the lack of good local pubs.

I live on Cleaveland Road and love that there are some great bars around, but no great pubs!
Rubicon does great cocktails, and the Gordon Bennett has got a good formula.

But when I fancy a nice after work pint, I'm left with not much choice - The Grove and the Victoria are the only places that seem to approach a good pub atmosphere (although the Lamb is fun, if a bit small and strange).

Anyone found a hidden gem that I've missed?

Got this piece of crap through my letterbox the other day.
Did anyone else get one?

Went out to have a pop at the racist, but couldnt see them. Must have popped it through the letterbox with a robot arm.
Paranoid maybe?

Surbiton gateway to...?

The city, the West End,the airports of LHR and LGW and the South...and motorway links.

We are a suburb,we are a "hubsub" we are not a gateway to the suburbs we are much more a "superhubsub" even. But lets just keep it to ourselves or house prices will soar and our children will find it difficult to afford to buy in the area.

Bosco Hotel Surbiton - This looks very promising!

I managed to intuitively work out the website! There are no menus. I just hope that this hotel and brasserie matches the slick design of their site!

http://www.hotelbosco.co.uk/

Rooms: 20, Style and warmth, fantastic location, brasserie style bar/restaurant, contemporary Private Dinning/Meeting room.

Hotel Bosco presents an inspirational sanctuary to guests who desire that little bit extra.

Surbiton Mugging

Thursday morning approx 4.15am. On my way to work. Just crossing Cranes Park into Villiers Avenue when I saw three black teenagers separating. I saw one had a small claw hammer in his hand, whilst the other two circled behind me. I was relieved of £10 from my wallet. They wanted my mobile phone, but as I don't own one they were dissapointed. They even handed me back my Sony Walkman, so I must have very poor taste even for muggers.
