Anti-stab protection

I have been issued with an anti-stab vest like many other public sector workers. I've also heard that even traffic wardens have been given them in Surbiton. I never thought things would get this bad in my home town!

Moving soon!

Hey there!
My fiance and I will be moving to Surbiton in two weeks time where we start our new jobs as teachers in the autumn. We're pretty excited about the move (we're coming all the way down from Northampton!) and in the meantime we would really like to become familiar with the place and the people etc. I am quite up for a little summer job just to keep the pennies rolling in but don't really know where to start! Any tips/advice would be much welcomed!
Chat soon,
Tess :)

King Charles Road...TFL idiocy

Having made the Ewell Road a congested, obstructed route into Surbiton and Kingston,TFL have decided to make the KCR Bridge a single lane and thus make everyone who wants to turn left for Surbiton centre wait behind those turning right or going straight on.

From 14th July this nonsense will start as an experiment and if it causes huge jams it will,no doubt ,be made permanent.Does no one employed in the TFL drive? Or are they all "bikes and boots"?

Parking in a residents only parking space!

I am constantly having my private parking space used by inconsiderate visitors to the area. Some of them refuse to move despite being asked. Anyone else have this problem?

The BBC2 Restaurant TV Show on Maple Road

I have noticed that the owners of the Italian on Maple Road have gone on holiday and let their premises to the BBC2 show - The Restaurant.

Was thinking of heading down and trying it out tonight. Wondered if anyone has been there or knows much about the owners/contestants?

Local Surbiton Businesses

I play and manage a local, Surbiton based, amateur football team who are looking to increase their coverage within the local area.

For the forthcoming season (September 2008) we are looking to run two sides, due to the increasing success of the 1st team. We play at Victoria Rec, Balaclava Road, and have done for over 15 years.

We are looking to attract new sponsors to the club and for our team website, if this may be of interest to anyone on here, i can offer further information on the club, alternatively the club website is www.darkside-fc.co.uk

Tim

CRAFT / TABLE TOP FAIRS

I dont know if anyone can help,

but I'm interested in trying to sell some art work that I've been doing at my local adult ED course at the King Charles Centre

but I dont really know where to start -

does anyone know of any local craft / table top fairs ?

I can only seem to find car boot sales on the net, it seems like a hidden community

Regulating or closing down the YMCA

The comments on this site back up my own opinion of Surbiton - a great place to live with one major problem - the YMCA.

I seems to me that virtually all of the 'low and mid level' crime in the town centre originates with the inmates of this centre. Whenever I see anyone who looks slightly dodgy in Surbiton, you can guarantee that the next time I see them they will be coming in or out of the YMCA (or the back of a police van).
